How long does turf take to establish after laying?

Real turf typically takes 2–4 weeks to fully root into the soil under normal conditions. During this time, consistent watering is critical. After 3–4 weeks, you can begin light foot traffic, and after 6–8 weeks the lawn can withstand normal use. Artificial turf requires no establishment period — it looks and feels great from day one.

Is artificial turf safe for children and pets?

Absolutely. The premium artificial turf products we use are manufactured to be non-toxic, lead-free and completely safe for children and animals. They’re permeable, so liquid drains through naturally (including pet urine), and they can be easily cleaned with water. Modern artificial turf is a popular choice for families with dogs for exactly these reasons.

Sir Walter Buffalo is hands-down the most shade-tolerant real turf variety available in Sydney, making it the most popular choice for residential gardens with trees or structures casting shade. It requires as little as 3 hours of sun per day. If your area receives less than 3 hours of direct sun, we’d likely recommend artificial turf, which performs equally well regardless of light levels.

Can you lay turf in winter in Sydney?

Yes — Sydney’s mild winters are generally suitable for turf laying year-round. Real turf establishment may take slightly longer during the cooler months (4–6 weeks instead of 2–4), but it still works well. Artificial turf can be laid in any season with no difference in result.
